After being declared the winner, Omondi thanked residents for their participation, emphasising the need for unity in advancing the constituency’s interests.
He acknowledged that the voter turnout was below expectations but described the engagement as meaningful.
"I thank Ugunja residents for taking their time and coming out, though they didn't turn up as we expected; the turnout was low. We hoped that they would have turned up more than this, but those who found time came out and exercised their democratic right by electing the second Ugunja MP. I also take this chance to express special gratitude to my competitors, and I ask them to join me and let's work together so that Ugunja can continue to grow. That is what is important now. Thank you very much," Omondi stated.
The by-election, one among several conducted nationwide, is viewed as a measure of party strength ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Omondi assured voters of his dedication to serving the remainder of the term with focus and commitment.
He also urged fellow candidates to collaborate, stressing that collective effort would be crucial for the constituency’s growth and development.
The win signals ODM’s sustained influence in the region and presents Omondi with a platform to implement initiatives that address local needs.
